Question
Happy Pongal Everyone. Chennai used to host Pongal Test matches which has stopped since 1988. While we pray for the revival of Pongal Tests, the (last)1988 Pongal Test was quite historic. It was the only Test match captained by Ravi Shastri. The test is remembered for debutant Narendra Hirwani's record haul of 16 wickets. Local boy WV Raman also made his debut in the test. There was another debutant for India in the test match. It was his only Test match. This debutant has a lot of records in Ranji Trophy including the 2nd highest number of centuries and 4th best average. 10 years later, he was part of an infamously abandoned Ranji match at the same venue. He also faced ban due to match fixing allegations which was subsequently reversed. He is now a coach of a state side. Identify the 1988 Pongal Test debutant.
Answer
The answer is AJAY SHARMA, India Test Cap 180.
